These Bedouin girls were curious about what I was doing – wish I had been able to stop and chat with them.
Wow! What an invigorating day! I’m sitting here in a beautiful wadi, have camp all set up, I ate, and drank some water. The sun has just dipped below the horizon and it’s cooling off. I’m way down off the mountains in the low lands. It’s no longer downright cold at night. Today it was hot and as darkness sets in its pleasantly mild with a gentle breeze. The stars are coming out and it’s absolutely peaceful.
I started the day in Dana, a small village perched atop towering cliffs. I followed the Jordan trail for 10 miles as it coincided with the Dana trail, one of the most popular and spectacular trails in Jordan.
I walked through the wadi sandwiched between the 1000 foot high wadi walls of colorful sandstone. As I reach the end of the Dana trail, the Jordan Trail continued as the wadi opened up into a spectacular desert. It kind of reminded me of Death Valley. I thoroughly enjoyed walking today. It reinvigorated my spirit and rekindled my resolve to finish the hike to Aqaba.

An early morning start into the desert.

Wadi Dana opening up into open desert

Walking through the open desert. I did not know it at the time, but tomorrow I will have to cross these mountains.
